Our expertise is forged from our over 25 years of on the ground experience providing onsite claims and disability services to some for Canada’s most recognized organizations. In sectors as varied as hospitals, municipal governments, social & health care providers, as well as manufacturing, pharmaceutical and construction companies, we worked onsite with their staff to design and administered their WCB and claims management programs. We pioneered what today is workplace disability management.
So how was atworkcare.com brought to life?
Our software rose out of necessity - our need manage, track and report on complex occupational (WCB) claims & appeals, sick leave and attendance management, grievances and human rights complaints.
To deliver better outcomes, we needed to move from inter office mail, brown manila envelopes stuffed with carbon copied forms and thermal fax documents that rolled off the machine and under the table, to something - anything - to allow us to support more people while keeping cost low. The good olde days.
We were hooked on WordPerfect, Lotus 1-2-3 and Harvard Graphics! Google that! Those of you who worked with us all the way back in 1999 know very well how that tech changed our game! But that was not enough - we needed more effective tools as we were working on the frontlines and needed the ability to manage more effectively.
As the prover goes, Necessity is the mother of invention. And so we started to plan. Small at first. We just wanted a “program” to allow us to complete a Form 7 (Employers Report to WCB) so that we could edit information without having to retype that laborious form multiple times before we mailed it to the WCB in the pre-addressed envelope.
We were bitten by the Tech Bug and it itched.
And like that, our vision led to our very first program. It allowed us to enter all of the information in a look-a-like Form 7 in WordPerfect 5.1! We would then retype almost all of that data into Lotus 1-2-3 so we could track cases. Harvard Graphics was our shining star for reports. For those who don't want to google, think Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
And so we got efficient. Our clients were beyond the moon with our ability to deliver results - but we could not stop.
We were bitten by the tech bug and it itched.
And with lots of effort, some very skilled people (some of you know who they are) and a basketful of dreams, we built what is arguably one of the most effective tools in the HR Tech sector.
First called EClaims Manager, but as we went beyond WCB claims and developed the tools to manage workplace disability in all of its many facets - sick leaves and absenteeisms, short term disability and workplace accommodation - atworkCare was born.
Out of nostalgia many of our longer term clients (25 years and counting) still refer to our modern more than capable software as “EClaims”.
And we are not done yet. From our humble roots, we continue to design, build and deploy ever more effective tools to help employers support their people.
